Common Farm, Comberton

Project Description

A local client was converting a barn requiring a new roof spanning 7.3 metres. This was a 19th Century building with a pitch of 35 degrees which is less than traditional Oak trusses of that era and the Oak trusses needed to be hand crafted for the project to continue the theme of the existing property.

The Challenge

To find 9 straight 7.4 metre long tie beams upon which the truss members could be constructed incorporating a stainless steel tension rod and the ‘trenching out’ of the Oak to allow for hidden cabling for lighting and services.

The Results

An extremely stylish conversion with lightly grit blasted Oak features throughout to give a more modern theme to link the new and the old areas together with style.
